You Deserve to Be Kind to Yourself

When my clients come back for their image reveals, one of the first things I tell them is "we say things to ourselves we would never say to other people. We're going to practice kindness today. We're going to speak to ourselves the way we speak to other people" Our inner critic loves to show up and point out all of our "flaws," and we want to shut that down before viewing boudoir artwork. My clients learn to ignore their inner critic, or at least they try really hard to. You deserve the same kindness you bestow onto other people. Boudoir is a wonderful way to practice that.

Babe H is working on self-kindness, and I'm so happy she chose a photo shoot with me to build her body appreciation. All of us could use a little more kindness in our lives, and that starts with how we talk to ourselves. I hope that when Babe H looks at these photos, she sees how incredibly wonderful her body is. I hope she's reminded of all she's accomplished with her body and everything it has done for her. She deserves to feel beautiful in her body, and so do you.

Here's her story:

How do you feel about your body? I’ve had a love/ hate relationship with my body since I can remember. I’m working on being kinder to myself, and from doing that I’m starting to appreciate my body more.

What's your best tip for feeling sexy? Some lingerie and a glass of wine

How do you feel about your age? I don’t love being 27, but I do love that as I get older I care less and less about what others think

What gets better with age? Self-confidence

What's the best compliment you've ever received? That I have a confident walk. A woman told me that at work maybe 5 years ago and I haven’t forgot

What do you wish you could tell your younger self? All of the little things I worried about will never matter. I spent so much time focusing on what my body looks like and what men thought of me, I wish I didn’t waste so much time

Describe yourself in five words Laid back, empathetic, strong, intuitive, & independent

On bad body image days, how will you remind yourself that you're awesome? I automatically feel better after a spin or pilates class, that’s always my go to when I’m feeling off. I’m also working on saying kinder things and not critiquing myself in the mirror.

What's your favorite form of self care? I love doing my skin care routine, putting on comfy clothes, having a glass of wine, and watching Real Housewives
