So, you’ve booked your boudoir session—cue the excitement! Throw the confetti and pop the champagne! But as the session date gets closer, a little voice in the back of your head starts whispering, But what if I don’t know how to pose?
First of all, let’s get one thing straight: you do NOT need to be a model to look incredible in your boudoir photos. In fact, most people who step into my studio have never done anything like this before. Feeling a little nervous? Totally normal. But trust me—I’ve got you.
I’ll guide you through every pose, adjust you down to the tiniest details, and make sure you feel completely comfortable. But if you want to go in feeling extra prepared, here are some posing tips to help you rock your session with confidence.

1. Start with Deep Breaths
Before we even talk about posing, let’s address those nerves. One of the best ways to relax is to focus on your breathing. Deep, slow breaths will help release tension and give your body a more natural, effortless look in photos. Plus, it helps settle any pre-session jitters so you can focus on having fun.
2. Create Beautiful Lines with Your Body
Boudoir posing is all about angles and elongation. You're three dimensional, and we're trying to make you look that way on a 2D space like a photograph. A few simple tricks can help create those gorgeous, natural-looking lines in your photos:
✔ Arch your back slightly to enhance your natural curves.
✔ Point your toes when lying down to lengthen your legs and pop those calf muscles.
✔ Pop a hip when standing to add movement and shape.
✔ Soft hands—avoid stiff or clenched fingers by gently resting them on your body or playing with your hair.
These little adjustments make a huge difference and help create those effortlessly sultry vibes.

3. Embrace the Power of Movement
One of the best ways to avoid feeling stiff in your photos is to keep your body moving. Small, natural shifts—like adjusting your hands, rolling your shoulders back, or changing the tilt of your chin—keep your poses looking fluid and dynamic.
Not sure what to do? No worries! I’ll guide you through movement-based poses so you never feel stuck or awkward.
4. The Smirk, the Soft Gaze, and the Full Smile
Your facial expressions tell a story, and you don’t have to stick to just one. Some poses call for a confident smirk, while others might feel more moody or playful. A few tricks to try:
✔ The Soft Gaze – Close your eyes for a moment, take a deep breath, then open them slowly. This creates a relaxed, dreamy expression.
✔ The Smirk – Think of something that makes you feel sexy or powerful. This naturally brings out a subtle, confident smirk.
✔ The Full Smile – If you're feeling joyful, let it shine! Genuine laughter and big smiles are just as sexy as a sultry stare. I love photographing joy! Happiness is sexy, too.
I’ll help guide you through these in the moment, but playing with different expressions in the mirror beforehand can help you feel more comfortable.

5. Trust the Process—And Your Photographer
This is the biggest (and best) tip I can give you. I know how to find different angles that you've never seen before, guide you into poses that work for your body, and make sure you feel incredible throughout the session.
Your only job? Show up, trust yourself, and have fun.
